Dutch Prodigy Megan Arens Clinches Gold in U19 ITT at World Cycling Championships

Kigali, September 23, 2025 — In a thrilling display of youth cycling talent, 18-year-old Dutch cyclist Megan Arens took top honors in the Individual Time Trial (ITT) at the 98th UCI World Cycling Championships, clocking an impressive 25 minutes and 47 seconds over the 18.3 km course.

On this third day of the Championships, young contenders under 19 years old faced a challenging route starting from BK Arena, passing through Rwahama, Kimironko (Simba Supermarket), Chez Lando, Prince House, Sonatube, Nyanza-Kicukiro, Gahanga (Master Steel), Rwandex, Kanogo, City Centre, Kanogo, Mediheal, Kwa Mignone, At the Ombudsman Office, and finishing at KCC.

Rwandan cyclist Masengesho Yvonne was the first rider off the starting line, completing the course in 29:43 for 31st place. Liliane Uwiringiyimana finished 40th out of 47, crossing the line in 30:58, trailing the winner by 5.11 minutes.

Arens’ dominance was clear as she edged out Spain’s Paula Ostiz, who finished second 35 seconds later, and Norway’s Oda Aune Gissinger, who claimed third place just 37 seconds behind.

The immediate next race features the junior men, covering 22.6 km, with Rwandan representatives Byusa Pacifique starting first, followed by Ishimwe Brian at 14:48.
