Swiss cyclist REUSSER Marlen won the Women’s Individual Time Trial (ITT) World Championships held in Kigali.

The 34-year-old Swiss rider, who currently races for the Movistar Team, impressed spectators with a time of 43 minutes, 9 seconds, and 34 hundredths of a second, averaging 34 percent.

She was followed by Dutch cyclists Anna van der BREGGEN and Demi VOLLERING.

Anna finished in 44 minutes, 23 seconds, and 07 hundredths, while Demi, who placed third, completed the race in 44 minutes, 14 seconds, and 07 hundredths.

Among the two Rwandan women who competed in this Championship, Xaveline NIRERE finished in 27th place with a time of 50 minutes, 7 seconds, and 67 hundredths.

Diane INGABIRE came in 35th with a time of 52 minutes, 57 seconds, and 79 hundredths.

Nirere was beaten by Marlen by 6 minutes, 58 seconds, and 33 hundredths, while Ingabire was trailing by 9 minutes, 48 seconds, and 45 hundredths.

Qatari rider Kholoud AL-KUWARI finished 44th with a time of 1 hour, 24 minutes, and 16 seconds, losing 41 minutes, 6 seconds, and 74 hundredths to Marlen, the winner of the championship.

This championship began at the BK Arena, with athletes competing over a course of 31 kilometers and 200 meters.

This marks the 98th edition of the Championship, and the first to be held in Africa and in Rwanda in particular.

Although it is the 98th edition overall, it is only the 77th time the race has been held in the women’s category.
