Dr. Frank Habineza Officially Opens Green Party Office in Rwamagana, Eastern Province
The President of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, Dr. Frank Habineza, officially inaugurated the party’s new office in Rwamagana District, Eastern Province, on September 26, 2015. The event was a significant milestone for the party as it aims to strengthen its presence and activities across the country.
The ceremony was attended by notable leaders and guests from several countries including Ireland, Kenya, Denmark, Sweden, Madagascar, and Serbia. It was also graced by the party’s national leadership, including the Secretary General, Member of Parliament Jean Claude Ntizimana, among others
In his address, Dr. Habineza expressed his happiness about opening the new offices in the Eastern Province, saying, “We are pleased to inaugurate our new offices here in the Eastern Province. We warmly welcome party leaders, members, and distinguished guests.”

He emphasized the Green Party’s commitment to promoting good governance starting at the grassroots level, with a focus on environmental conservation, democracy, and regional peace. “The Green Party is dedicated to strengthening democracy and political participation in Rwanda, as well as supporting programs that improve the well-being of Rwandans,” he added.
MP Jean Claude Ntizimana reaffirmed that although the party has existing structures nationwide and in districts, it did not previously have permanent offices with flags. He explained that the initiative to establish offices across Rwanda aims to make party activities more accessible, encouraging local engagement and advocacy.
He highlighted, “Having offices in each district makes it easier for people to access party information and seek advocacy services. This ongoing program promotes national visibility and strengthens our local presence.”
The DGPR clarified that opening offices in the provinces reflects the party’s capacity; the members in Rwamagana are capable of financing the office for the entire year. He stated, “The members know their facilities, and the party supports them by providing a flag. Setting up these offices is part of our broader effort to build a visible and active presence in every district.”

Founded in August 2009, the Green Party is part of the Rwanda Forum of Political Parties (NFPO). Its activities include environmental conservation, promoting peace and security in the region, and supporting government initiatives toward unity and reconciliation.
This strategic expansion underscores the party’s dedication to fostering participatory democracy, sustainable development, and regional stability across Rwanda.
