Boneza Sector in Rutsiro District Sees Progress Through Tourism Infrastructure Development

Boneza Sector, located along Lake Kivu in Rutsiro District, is experiencing rapid growth through significant infrastructure projects aimed at boosting tourism and local livelihoods. These developments are transforming the area and opening new economic opportunities for residents.

In the sector, several modern hotels are under construction, with some already operational. These establishments are not only changing the landscape but also improving residents’ livelihoods by creating jobs. Currently, seven hotels are functioning effectively, employing approximately 120 local people.

Building on this progress, five new hotels and three additional motels are being constructed near the shores of Lake Kivu. These projects are part of a broader initiative to develop the tourism sector and are supported by major road construction efforts that improve access to different parts of the sector.

One notable project involves the construction of a 7.2-kilometer paved road connecting Mushubati, Nkomero, Boneza, and Nkora. This road has provided employment for 126 community members and is expected to further stimulate economic growth and connectivity within the area.

The ongoing development of hotels and roads in Boneza Sector demonstrates a strong commitment to leveraging natural resources and attracting tourists. These efforts aim to foster sustainable development and enhance the quality of life for residents.
