Remco Evenepoel Wins Third Straight Men’s Time-Trial World Title in Rwanda

Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel underlined his dominance in the discipline by winning a third consecutive men’s individual time trial at the Cycling Road World Championships, held in Rwanda.

The 25-year-old produced a commanding ride over the 40.6-kilometre course, clocking 49 minutes 46 seconds, and in the process caught Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar, who had started two minutes ahead.

Evenepoel’s blistering pace left little doubt about his supremacy. Australian Jeremy Vine claimed silver in 51:00, while fellow Belgian Ilan de Wilder secured bronze.

Pogacar, marking his 27th birthday, had hoped to complete a rare double by targeting both the time trial and road race titles. Instead, he was forced to settle for fourth place.

The championships, running over the next week in Rwanda, mark a historic occasion as Africa hosts the event for the first time. For Evenepoel, the victory adds another milestone to an already glittering career and cements his reputation as the world’s top time trial specialist.
