President Kagame in Doha, a Day After Rwanda Condemns Israeli Attack on Doha
President Kagame arrived in Doha today, just a day after Rwanda issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli attack on the Qatari capital. His visit highlights Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with Qatar and advocating for regional peace amid ongoing tensions.
Upon arrival, President Kagame was greeted by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi. The two leaders are expected to hold discussions on regional security, Middle East peace efforts, and expanding bilateral cooperation. Later today, President Kagame is scheduled to meet with HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, the Amir of Qatar, where topics including recent conflicts and pathways to stability will be addressed.
Kagame’s visit underscores Rwanda’s support for Qatar’s mediatory role in complex conflicts and its stance on regional stability. The timing follows Rwanda’s condemnation of the Israeli strikes on Doha, which targeted Hamas leaders and resulted in casualties among Hamas delegation members and a Qatari security official. Rwanda’s stance has been seen as a call for international accountability and peace in the region.
