Three Rwandans appointed to influential FIFA committees

Martin Ngoga, Anne-Lise Alida Kankindi, and Fabrice Shema have been appointed to serve on key FIFA standing committees, marking a historic milestone for their individual careers and for Rwanda’s growing presence in global football governance.

The announcement was made by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) through an official statement on X, congratulating the trio on their new international responsibilities.

Under the new appointments:

Martin Ngoga, currently serving as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Rwanda to the United Nations, will serve as Chairperson of the FIFA Ethics Committee, one of FIFA’s most important bodies responsible for promoting transparency and integrity across world football.

Anne-Lise Alida Kankindi joins as a Member of the FIFA Football Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Committee, contributing to football’s evolving digital and analytical landscape.

Fabrice Shema, also President of Rwanda Football Federation, has been named Member of the FIFA Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee, reinforcing FIFA’s global commitment to equality and inclusion.

FERWAFA commended the three officials for their continued dedication to football development and administration, noting that their selection represents both a personal achievement and a national milestone.

“Congratulations, and we extend our best wishes for success in your new responsibilities,” FERWAFA said in its statement.

These appointments come at a time when Rwanda’s profile in international football continues to rise.

The country hosted the 73rd FIFA Congress in Kigali in 2023 and remains a strong advocate for professional excellence and ethical leadership in African sports.

The trio’s new roles are widely seen as recognition of Rwanda’s continued progress in sports governance and its contribution to the global football agenda.
