Rango-Butare: 105 Children Make Vows to Join Pueri Cantores Movement

Rango-Butare: On June 1, 2025, the Parish of Saint John Bosco of Rango celebrated a feast day where 105 children made vows to join the Pueri Cantores (Children’s Choir) movement.

The celebration was attended by parishioners, parents of the children, the national leadership of the Pueri Cantores, and a representative of the Bishop of the Diocese of Butare.

On this day, the children were given the distinctive robes of the choir, and parents were encouraged to send their other children to join their peers in the movement.

It was a joyous day for both parents and children.

The Pueri Cantores movement has been in Rwanda for many years, with the first choir starting in 1957. Currently, there are 119 choirs.

Some of the parents whose children joined the choir testified that this was a happy step.

After the mass, there was a gathering of the Pueri Cantores singers, which was marked by dances and sharing of food prepared for the celebration.
